[Photilla] was born of frustration. Setup by brothers Nick and Xander Casey to fulfil photographer Xander's need for software that could make gorgeous client galleries quickly, easily and suitable for his high end clients.
It is the perfect match of skills. Xander has been a photographer since childhood, has a postgraduate degree in marketing and been a pro photographer for 15 years, whilst Nick has been a spod since childhood, starting his computer programming on a borrowed ZX81 home computer and then going on to develop all manner of cool programs, from enterprise solutions for big corporate names to Internet apps for cutting edge startups.
There wasn't anything on the market that suited Xander. Chatting one day, he asked Nick if he could build him the perfect solution: galleries that would be quick to make, yet would wow clients, have the right viewing capabilities on any devise along with the right tools to maximise photographer exposure and sales, all baked right into the product.
And that's how we began.
[Nick] is Mr Computer and when he is not computering he plays guitar in a band. These usually have weird names such as Full English Breakfast, Penelope Quiche or Attack Horse. If you have ever spend a Saturday night out in the South West you won't have heard him play, as he always seems to get the "prestigious" Tuesday night slots. Luckily he is a much better programmer than he is a guitarist.
He lives in a dingly-dell down in Devon with Suze and his two kids Eva & Nat and way too many chickens. He is the elder (yet shorter) brother to Xander. When Nick is not computering or making a noisy racket he is running about, usually in the same direction as many other sporty types on long distance running races.
[Xander] is a photo geek and wakes up every day knowing he's the luckiest person in the word - having photography as his actual job. With a background in marketing Xander switched to full time photography nearly 15 years ago and he loves every minute.
Xander is Nick's taller (and younger) brother and lives in Surrey with Kate and their two kids Charlotte & Tom. When Xander isn't photographing he is looking out for vintage cameras. He is doing up an old car with (sort of) help from the kids and he tried running long races, but that was too tiring. Luckily he is a much better photographer than runner.
